Jobing Description

The City of Grand Prairie is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to be part of its Planning Department as a Senior Planner. The Senior Planner will perform a variety of duties, including:

Reviews and administrates the land development process by researching unified development code, administering, and specifying required procedures and processes for zoning, changes, specific use permits, platting cases, and appeals to zoning board of adjustment.

Administers the unified development code by researching the UDC to establish processes and standards for development of land and businesses by zoning districts and presenting information to the public and applicants.

Presents zoning and platting cases to the planning and zoning commission by preparing and presenting oral presentations to boards, commissions, and council for public hearing items using computer and multimedia equipment.

Other duties include providing a review of permitted uses by zoning districts for new or expanding businesses and interacting with other City employees and the general public.

 

Skills / Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in City/Regional Planning, Architecture or related field and over two years in a Municipal Planning environment. Graphic Information System (ESRI) mapping and data base management skills are required.  A Master's degree and Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.

Requires a Texas Class C driver's license.

Salary Pay Range: $39,222 - $62,755 DOQ
